Really, I don't make these days up! This is one of those days that gives me a little more of a challenge, so let's see... This day can be taken literally or figuratively. You can literally 'walk around things' such as ladders, puddles, or other hazards, or you can try to avoid a conflict or issue in the figurative sense. Since my kids prefer to jump in puddles as opposed to walking around them, I think I'm going to use this day to discuss dealing with feelings, especially frustration and anger. I've found it much more effective to talk to kids about how to deal with anger when they're not in the middle of being angry!

What You'll Need:
  • Paper plates or paper
  • Magazines or newspapers (optional)
  • Scissors and glue

How To Make:

1. Cutout different faces from a magazine or newspaper (or you can also just draw different faces) and glue onto paper plate or paper. (If using paper plates, you can make each face into a puppet).
2. Have your child help describe how the people feel.
3. If the people are sad, angry, etc., ask your child how the people could feel better.
